Here’s a simple Momo (Dumpling) Recipe for you!
Ingredients:
For the Dough:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- Water (as needed)
For the Filling:
- 250g minced meat (chicken, pork, or buff) or paneer for veg momos
- 1 small onion (finely chopped)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1-inch ginger (grated)
- 2 tbsp coriander leaves (chopped)
- ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
- ½ teaspoon cumin powder
- ½ teaspoon garam masala
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
- 1 tablespoon oil
For the Momo Chutney (Optional):
- 2 tomatoes
- 2 dried red chilies
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon cumin powder
Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare the Dough
- In a bowl, mix flour and salt.
- Gradually add water and knead into a smooth dough.
- Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
Step 2: Prepare the Filling
- In a bowl, mix minced meat or paneer with onion, garlic, ginger, and coriander.
- Add turmeric, cumin powder, garam masala, soy sauce, and salt.
- Pour in 1 tablespoon of oil and mix well.
Step 3: Shape the Momos
- Roll the dough into small balls and flatten into thin circles.
- Place a spoonful of filling in the center.
- Fold and pleat the edges to seal the momo.
Step 4: Steam the Momos
- Grease the steamer with oil to prevent sticking.
- Place momos inside and steam for 10–15 minutes until cooked.
Step 5: Make the Chutney
- Boil tomatoes and chilies for 5 minutes.
- Blend with garlic, sesame seeds, cumin powder, and salt to make a smooth sauce.
Serving
